In the Department of Biology, courses are led by professors
performing cutting-edge research in the various fields of biology (such as
molecular biology, genetics, cellular biology, photosynthesis, genetic expression
and development, neurobiology, endocrinology, environmental and evolutionary
biology), using a variety of research materials such as animals, plants, algae,
and bacteria.
The Department of Biology started its activities with the
student's admission in Plant Biology. Plant science is one of the essential
branches of biology, which has a significant value in human life. The vital
role of the plants in solving environmental, agricultural, and pharmacy
problems is undeniable. The achievements of plant science research are among
the essential needs for the development and independence of the country in the
fields related to the plants. Currently, the Biology Department has six
full-time faculty members in Animal Biosystematics, Systematics and Plant Ecology,
Plant physiology, Medicinal Plants, and Biophysics.
