Introduction
The Department of Agronomy and Plant Breeding has started
its activities since 2021 as an independent group from the Department of Plant
Production and currently has four full-time faculty members in the different
fields of agriculture, BSc. in plant genetics and production engineering and
MSc. in agroecology undergraduate and graduate. According to high potentials in
crop planting and production in south of Kerman province, Iran, its important
aims are:
·
Assessment of planting
pattern changes and challenges,
·
Evaluation of environmental
stress effects on qualitative and quantitative of crops and medical plants
yield,
·
Use of plant breeding and optimized agronomic
principles for crops production,
·
Evaluation of low and high temperatures stress
effects on crops yield and its management to decrease of their damages,
·
Agroecological zoning,
·
Guidance of monoculture
systems to multicultural systems,
·
Development of crop
rotation and sustainable agriculture in south of Kerman province, Iran.
There is an advanced educational and research field and
agricultural research laboratory in this department.
BSc. in Plant Genetic and Production Engineering
Study in the field of crop cultivation and selection of
appropriate cultivars of these plants and correct harvesting of their products
is in a field of academic sciences called plant genetic and production
engineering. We hope that the graduates of this field will have job
opportunities and favorable interaction with the scientific, industrial and
production environments of the country by benefiting from the education and
research of their study period.
MSc. in Agroecology
Agroecology refers to a field of science related to
agricultural products that is based on theoretical and practical training of
the components of agricultural ecosystems and the interaction between them,
emphasizing the application of these concepts in the design and management of
agricultural ecosystems and the use of environmentally friendly technologies.
The purpose of holding this course is to train specialists who, in addition to
research, are able to participate in regional planning with the aim of
sustainable production of agricultural products. Since the role of sustainable
agriculture is necessary in order to maintain the health of the environment and
due to the importance of the presence of experts in the field of ecological
agriculture, its acceptance at the master's and doctoral levels has a special
place. In this course, it tries to educate and guide students in various new
scientific and research affairs related to this field, to pave the way for the
development of entrepreneurial graduates, as well as to continue their studies
at higher levels.
