Faculty of Agriculture

The faculty of agriculture is the oldest and the first faculty of the University of Jiroft. Since 1989, when it was known as “Jiroft Agricultural College” its educational activity has been initiated under the authority of Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman. In 1997, the college has been developed to the faculty of agriculture. A decade later in 2008; it has been promoted to a Higher Agriculture and Natural Resources Campus to maximize the tripartite missions of teaching, research, and extension in the region. At the beginning of 2010, after 21 years of excellent local educational and research performance, the faculty of agriculture met noticeable progress and started its new national and international educational and research visions as the University of Jiroft. Nowadays, the faculty of agriculture has 48 academic staff with international backgrounds and experiences in education, research, and teaching.

The faculty of agriculture has several highly equipped laboratories, fabrication laboratories, educational and research farms, and greenhouses beside tropical fruit and medicinal plant collections. Moreover, Shahid Beheshti Research and Educational Center comprises of over 270 hectares of agricultural farms and date palm orchards as well as a livestock station, including livestock, sheep, and poultry farm provided modern facilities for students and staff research projects and educational purposes. The faculty of agriculture is comprised of 10 bachelor and 12 masters’ education programs in multidisciplinary agricultural sciences such as horticultural sciences, plant protection, and soil sciences, etc. The faculty of agriculture's mission is to discover, develop and share knowledge to overcome local, national, and global obstacles in the area of agriculture and life sciences.
