Department
of Mechanical Engineering of Biosystems is one of the oldest departments of the
Faculty of Agriculture which started its activities in 1989 under the name of
Agricultural Machinery Technology Department by accepting students in the
associate degree program of Agricultural Machinery Technology. Department of
Mechanical Engineering of Biosystems has been pursuing its educational and
research activities since September 2013 with the admission of a Bachelor Degree
student as well as Master Degree student in Mechanical Engineering of
Biosystems. At present, the Department has 55 undergraduate students, 20
postgraduate students and 4 full-time faculty members with the rank of
assistant professor. Designing and Manufacturing Agricultural Machinery
required by the region, printing and presenting hundreds of articles in
prestigious domestic and foreign journals and conferences, conducting dozens of
research projects and teaching about 800 graduates in undergraduate and
graduate courses, is the result of thirty years of effort by faculty members. Now,
the Department has a complete set of workshops
and laboratories includes agricultural machinery, combustion
engine, hydraulic systems, welding, machine tools, strength of materials and
mechanical properties of agricultural products workshops. The Department
of Mechanical Engineering of Biosystems
has set its most important goal to increase the level of agricultural
mechanization in the southern region of Kerman province by educating and
training talented young people in this region.
